It has been a pretty quiet Summer transfer window so far this season, not many if any teams have bought or even loaned players. What is going on?
With the Africa Cup Of Nations still ongoing, and a whole host of Euopean and world stars looking to put themselves in the shop window. With Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang flying the flag for Africa in England.
Who are the top five prospects who should be on the move this summer to the Premier League and beyond?
1- Hakim Ziyech Ajax-Morocco
Hakim Ziyech is a 26-year old winger who is already being touted for a big money move this summer. A stellar season with Ajax, where he contributed 21 goals from a wide position has made him a top commodity.
The Moroccan starred in the Champions League for Ajax this season, and caused real problems for the Tottenham defense over both legs and throughout the competition. Playing in a Morocco team that dosen’t have many household names. has him as their key man throughout the competition.
Potential landing spots-Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton or Wolves
2- Kalidou Koulibaly Napoli-Senegal
Kalidou Koulibaly is a 28-year old centre-back, and one who should be on the move this summer no doubt! An excellent season with Napoli that got him a lot of recognition for being one of the best players in his position, has set-up the Napoli man for a big move.
The Senegalese player was excellent for Napoli in their league winning season in 2017-2018. He also featured against Arsenal in the Europa league quarter-final games this season, despite his side falling short.
Every team wants a strong leader at the back, and Koulibaly certainly fits the bill. The only issue is that the player is 28, would you really want to pay anywhere in the upwards of 80 million?
Potential landing spots-Man United, Man City or Liverpool
3-Nicholas Pepe Lille-Ivory Coast
Everyone wants a quick, goal-scoring winger right? That is exactly what the 24-year old Ivorian provides. In 74 games the winger has scored 35 goals for Lille and attracted a lot of attention from around the world including Barcelona and attention in the Premier League.
Pepe scored a goal and provided two assists in a 5-1 rope over champions PSG in the league this past season. Ivory Coast have always been known to produce their quick wingers such as Wilfred Zaha, Salomon Kalou and we can’t forget about former Arsenal man Gervinho.
Potential landing spots-Arsenal or Liverpool
4-Jean Michael Seri Fulham-Ivory Coast
Having a years Premier League experience can surely help with a return to the ‘best league in the world’ and that’s exactly what current Fulham midfielder Jean Michael Seri has under his belt.
Before joining Fulham Seri was scouted by Barcelona, Dortmund with Arsenal and Chelsea also in hot pursuit. There is no way a player of his caliber will play his trade in the Championship next season, and a decent ACON has proved that he still has the ability that made him such a hot prospect in the first place.
Potential landing spots-Watford, Everton or West Ham.
5-Andre Onana Ajax-Cameroon
Just like his team-mate Hakim Ziyech, both have put themselves in the shop window with Ajax’s incredible Champions League run and league winning season.
Onana swapped Barcelona for Amsterdam in 2015, and has been Ajax’s regular in goal since 2016. Although sometimes erratic, Onana has made stunning saves this season and shown why he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the game. The Cameroonian’s distribution of the ball is excellent shown in Ajax’ possession based football.
He would be a nice fit for any of the premier league sides, and playing for the defending champions Cameroon can only help his stock.
