This weekend the Antrim Senior Football Championship final takes place between Cargin and Lamh Dhearg at Corrigan Park, Belfast.
With a whole host of silverware available and bragging rights, as well as progression to the Ulster Championship who can come out on top?
This year’s Antrim Football final will hope to be much more entertaining than last years damp squib. A low scoring 9-point game between current champions Cargin and runners up Creggan in Ahoghill wasn’t a great spectacle for fans.
Cargin have got back into the final this year again against 2017 champions Lamh Dhearg. The Hannahstown side had to overcome their semi-final opponents Portglenone not once, or twice but three times.
A rivalry that went viral on social media due to a draw game in full time, extra time and both sides scoring nine sudden death frees each. This game showed how close the Antrim SFC finals have been over the past number of years.
Talisman and former Antrim forward Paddy Cunningham has been excellent in this years championship for Lamh Dhearg and will hope to get his team over the line, and secure another Antrim SFC trophy.
Cargin’s Kevin O’Boyle has the experience of captaining the Antrim Footballers in 2018 and winning the trophy last year will give the Cargin side added motivation as favourites.
