The PGA Tour heads to Florida for Arnold Palmer Invitational as players look to find their game with the Masters on the horizon.
Rory McIlroy leads the betting with ominous form. He has posted four consecutive top 5 finishes in his four starts in 2019. He is defending champion and could take some stopping this weekend.
Rose is a player who is playing with the same confidence as McIlroy. Despite skipping Mexico, he has won on the PGA Tour this year already and is red hot form.
His Arnold Palmer Invitational record is encouraging too; the Englishman has finished in the Top 15 in six of his last seven starts at Bayhill. In addition, these finishes have seen him post two top 5s. He will fancy chances of winning this week.
Rose’s stats are impressive sitting at first for birdie and scoring average. He also sits in the top 5 for both Strokes Gained around the green and tee to green. His game is in fantastic shape and he should be a factor on Sunday.
I expect Reed to kick-start his season with a big performance at Bayhill. The American will be desperate to post some positive results in the lead up to his Green Jacket defence in April.
Reed has put in encouraging performances this year without posting the finishes a player of his calibre would expect. That said, he has posted three top 20’s including a T14 finish in Mexico where he entered the final round alongside DJ and McIlroy in the final group. He fell out of contention but his middle rounds of 68 and 64 highlight that he is on the right track.
Reed tends to save some of his best results for the Sunshine State – he was 7th here last year and has enjoyed consistent success in Florida over his career. He sits 6th for Strokes Gained Putting and with Reed rolling the ball confidently, he could be a threat over the weekend.
