The quiet man from Armagh is at the Kelso races this Wednesday, riding some very nifty horses. Check out the main competition in his five races- you may even get a winner!
Trongate, a hurdles winner at Ayr in December, performed well on chase debut last month finishing second in a handicap at Perth beaten under three lengths. He should improve the experience and maybe get my day off to the perfect start.
Main Competiton: The chief rival is Irish raider Oighear Dubh, a chase winner at Tipperary in July.
Theatre Act, a three times hurdles winner, races off a mark seventeen pounds below her last successful level for me on January 17. She returns from a four-month break after finishing fourth at Hexham in June.
Main Competition: The most to fear to come from Mitcd and Green Zone.
Ink Master carries joint top weight in the six-runner handicap chase. He was foiled in his four-timer attempt at Stratford eleven days ago, finishing second beaten under four lengths. He is in good form and will make a bold bid to get back to winning ways with track and going to suit.
Main Competiton: It is a competitive race with Cubomania and Hargam likely challengers.
Volcanic was a good win for me at Cartmel at the start of July and seemed set for another victory twenty days later when tipping up, at last, two lengths clear. His previous run can be ignored as he wasn’t suited by the trip or soft going. Conditions should be excellent today, and I am looking forward to the improved performance.
Main Competition: Alfie’s Choice won well for me in July, and along with Go Another One will be difficult to beat.
Goldencard makes his rules debut having run well in Irish Points. He makes his first appearance for a stable with a good record in these types of contest. I am looking forward to the ride!
Main Competition: Irish duo Miss Aloud and Auntie Mary.
