Chelsea and Arsenal back in Europa League action

Thursday night is one of those nights that many football fans tend to flick on the football and watch with one eye on the tv and one on their mobile phone.

But tonight, it is the semi-final stages of the Europa League and you don’t want to miss it!

There are two remaining English sides left in the competition with Arsenal and Chelsea competing for a place in the finals in Baku.

Chelsea travels away to Germany to face Eintracht Frankfurt, who have been unbeaten at home in 11 games. They defeated a Benfica side 4-4 on aggregate, going through to the next round on the away goals advantage rule.

The North-London side defeated Slavia Prague 5-3 on aggregate, after scoring a vital away goal and then hung onto their lead in the second after the Czech team scored three surprising goals. However, Chelsea got four of their own and progressed.

Chelsea has the competitions top goal scorers with a combined 30 goals and top goal scorer Olivier Giroud bagging 10 of these goals. Maurizio Sarri’s men will hope to take the upper hand tonight v Frankfurt.

Chelsea are priced at 11/8 to win the contest while Frankfurt are 21/10.

Turning our attention to the second English side. Arsenal welcomes Spanish-side Valencia to the Emirates Stadium in their quest to reach the Europa League final.

Arsenal led by coach Unai Emery, who has won the competition three times with Sevilla has been on a terrific run of form in Europe. Emery’s side has kept nine clean sheets in their last 11 European games and only conceded four goals in that time. While Valencia has won two of their three games against Arsenal, winning last time out in their Champions League meeting,

Arsenal cruised past Italian’s Napoli 3-0 in the quarterfinals, which on paper was the hardest match-up in the last eight of the competition. Securing a goal lead in the first leg, and then scoring two away from home against the Italian’s who couldn’t get anything going under the watchful eye of Carlo Ancelotti.

While their opponents Valencia destroyed rivals Villareal 5-1 in their quarter-final. Valencia won handy away from home in the first leg 3-1, then secure their fate into the next round by winning 2-0 in the second leg.

Arsenal are priced 21/20 to win and Valencia priced 11/4.
