Tonight we will find out who the last four teams will be, and who will take one step closer to the Europa League final in Baku.
Two English teams are left in Arsenal and Chelsea, who both have put themselves in a great position to reach the semi-final of the competition, with victories in their first leg round of games.
Arsenal travel away to Italy to face Napoli, while Chelsea are back home at Stamford Bridge to face Slavia Prague. In the other games Spanish-sides Valencia take on Villareal while Benfica travel to Germany to take on Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arsenal scored two goals at home in the first leg against Carlo Ancelotti’s men, goals coming from skipper Aaron Ramsey and an own goal from Napoli’s centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly. Unai Emery’s men will travel away with a ton of confidence, knowing they only need one more goal to secure their fate and book their place into the next round.
Arsenal’s last away match in Italy was at the last 16 stage, of last years Europa League winning 2-0 v AC Milan. Unai Emery has had a lot of success in the Europa League, winning the competition three years in a row with Sevilla from the 2013-2014 to 2015-2016 season. He is the only manager to have won 25 games in the knockout stages-more than any other manager.
In the other English tie, Chelsea welcome Czech Republic side Slavia Prague to North-London. In what was a tricky first league trip, Maurizio Sarri assembled his troops to Prague in the hope to nick an early away goal. Thanks to Marcos Alonso’s 86th minute goal, Chelsea took a precious 1-0 lead back home to England.
A stat that may favour the Chelsea lads-Slavia Prague are winless in their last eight European meetings with English clubs (W0, D2, L6). Chelsea have also won 10 of their 11 Europa League matches this season , winning 10 and drawing one game, which is a pretty impressive unbeaten streak.
English sides have dominated Europe’s top two elite club competitions this season. With Man United, Man City, Liverpool and Spurs all reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, and Chelsea and Arsenal reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
