We have only three fixtures this Friday evening due to the League Final being played on Saturday. Some interesting ties as bottom side Ards have a must win fixture against Institute and Coleraine travel to face Crusaders.
Struggling Ards welcome Institute to Clandeboye Park tomorrow evening. This is a must win fixture if Colin Nixon’s side are serious about staying in the top flight. They suffered another disappointing defeat on Saturday losing away at Glenavon. With one victory since the middle of October its worrying times for Ards.
Stute find themselves also stuck in a patch of bad form. They have suffered defeat in their last five outings and will be desperate to pick up all three points here. The North West side have slipped to ninth position in the table but still remain twelve points clear of the relegation play-off place. I feel another three victories for Institute they will be safe.
This has the makings of a great game! Crusaders suffered a very disappointing defeat away at Dungannon last weekend. That defeat may have well ruled them out of the title challenge as they are now twelve points off top spot. Stephen Baxter will be demanding a response from his players to finish strongly heading into the split who knows anything could happen!
The Bannsiders have already tasted victory this year at Seaview. They win 0-3 back in September and defeated the Crues again at the Showgrounds 1-0 in October. Rodney McAree’s side were so close to getting another victory at Windsor Park last weekend. Coleraine were superb for 60 minutes then crumbled in the last half an hour. They surrendered a two goal advantage and ended up loosing the game 3-2. If they can replicate that 60 minutes for ninety minutes this week they have every chance here!
Kris Lindsay’s side have been very impressive of late. They dumped Glenavon out of the Irish Cup on Monday past and defeated champions Crusaders last weekend. The last time the two sides met it finished 1-1 at Milltown. The Swifts have their tails up and I fancy them to keep their good form going here!
The Point booked their place in the quarter finals of the Irish Cup on Monday night with a 3-1 victory over Queens. They were in a good run of league form until last weekend when Glentoran thumped them 5-0. A victory here could prove vital in the battle for Premiership safety!
