I’m at Wetherby for Six rides today.
Breakfast, was a good winner for me on hurdling debut at Market Rasen in early August and followed up with a respectable third at the same track in late September. I expect him to run well today in first-time tongue tie where he should be suited by the left-handed course. My horse has to concede weight to likely challengers Seaborough and King D’Argent but he has the benefit of experience.
Seaborough and King D’Argent are the likely Dangers.
Brian Hughes in action
Cool Mix won over hurdles for me at Kelso in January and makes his chasing debut in this four-runner contest. Cool Mix is a genuine consistent type who jumps fences well at home and I am looking forward to a big run.
El Terremoto is a chase winner and Lough Derg Spirit on chase debut has excellent hurdle form.
Katachenko, a winner of two chases and two hurdles, hasn’t visited the winners enclosure since April ’16. He has put in some good performances in the interim including a nose second to Play The Ace on his comeback run in December last year. Katachenko returns after a five-month break and a repeat of that run would give him every chance. He is in good form at home with most to fear from Ballyandy if back to his best.
Ballyandy could be the main danger.
Jacks Last Hope, a winner of nine races under rules, reverts to hurdles after five good chase runs this year including a win at Perth in May when I was on board. He is fit and well and should be right in contention.
Not Now Seamus and Monbeg Theatre are in good form and look the main opponents.
Inkmaster has been in excellent form this year with a hat trick and two runner up roles. He was beaten by a well-handicapped horse at Kelso last time and I hope he can pick up the winning thread in this six runner affair.
Oak Vintage may be the main threat despite his 11-pound penalty.
Beach Break completed a hat-trick for me at Stratford in September on the back of three seconds. A model of consistency he was beaten by two and a half lengths when finishing third at Sedgefield two weeks ago. I expect him to be right in contention in this six runner handicap.
Innocent Touch has been running well and may pose the main danger.
Best Of Luck to all attending Wetherby, hopefully, you’ll see me in the Winners Enclosure a few times today!
