It is almost a week away until the hotly-anticipated Irish Cup Final 2019, and the excitement is already building ahead of cup final day!
Saturday the 4th of May, is the day fans of former Premiership champions Crusaders will take on Championship underdogs Ballinamallard United, in the decider to see who will lift aloft the Irish Cup this season.
It is a huge occasion for both clubs and fans alike, who will turn out in their forces for a cup final day and chance to see their team lift silverware. Current holders Coleraine defeated Cliftonville 3-1 last year to bring home the trophy for their sixth time.
The game at Windsor Park is one that will allow our current sponsor’s Crusaders to end their cup drought, and join the list of winners from previous years. The North-Belfast side last won the Irish Cup in the 2008/2009 season.
On the road to the final, Ballinamallard overcame Dungannon Swifts in the quarter-final and then carried on their cup run by defeating Warrenpoint Town 5-4 on penalties in the semis.
Their opponents Crusaders glided past Ballymena 3-0 in the quarter-final, and beat current Irish Cup Champions Coleraine 2-0 at The Oval in the semi-final stages.
The final will kick-off at 2.30pm in The National Football Stadium, Windsor Park next Saturday the 4th of May. Good luck lads!
