We look ahead to what could be a massive game tomorrow night at the Ballymena showgrounds. Ballymena play host to Linfield in the semi final of the Toals Co. Antrim shield. The pair currently occupy first and third place in the Danske Bank Premiership table and this one has the potential to be a cracker!
Eventually this semi final should go ahead tomorrow night! I am predicting a tight affair in this one. Ballymena and Linfield currently set the pace in the Premiership table and will be going all guns blazing in this one to set up a final showdown with Crusaders.
Six time winners of the Co. Antrim Shield Ballymena should currently be brimming with confidence. The ‘Sky Blues’ have only lost one game in nineteen, this coming last weekend at Crusaders. This is a phenomenal record and just shows the confidence and belief David Jeffrey has injected in his players. Mr Jeffrey has win the competition six times as a manager, this is no shock given his drive and winning mentality. The last time these two teams met Ballymena came from a goal down to win the game 2-1 back in December.
Current Danske Bank Premiership leaders Linfield should also be full of confidence at the moment giving their run of fantastic results over the festive period. That run saw victories over Crusaders, Glentoran, Cliftonville and Ards. Linfield have win this competition a total of 43 times the last coming in 16/17. David Healy’s men have not lost a game since Ballymena defeated them at the start of December. ‘The Blues’ are currently still in every competition. Could a clean sweep be on the cards?
