The month of September for the UFC and its famous octagon is a busy one. I just hope they have enough staff, food and fight gear to go around!
With a Lightweight unification bout, Lightweight top contenders facing off, fast-Featherweights fighting in Mexico and Light-heavyweight title contenders all throwing down. You do not want to miss the upcoming action!
On Saturday the 7th of September UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on interim-Lightweight challenger Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier in Abu Dhabi.
The event will mark the promotion’s third visit to Abu Dhabi and first since April of 2014. Fighters such as Paul Felder, Edson Barbosa, Islam Makhachev and Curtis Blaydes also feature on the card.
A lightweight bout between former UFC Lightweight Championship challenger Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje has been slated to serve as the event’s headliner for UFC Fight Night Vancouver.
Glover Teixeira, Nikita Krylov, Uriah Hall, Marcin Tybura and the return of Todd Duffee feature throughout the card in Canada.
A Featherweight bout between The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America winner Yair Rodríguez and Featherweight gate-keeper Jeremy Stephens has been slated as the main event for UFC Fight Night Mexico.
Carla Esparza, Sergio Pettis, Brandon Moreno, Marion Reneau, Paul Craig and Bethe Corria fill out the rest of the card.
Possibly the sleeper card of the month is UFC Copenhagen.
The event will mark the promotion’s first visit to Copenhagen and Denmark for the UFC. A middleweight bout between Sweden’s Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier has been slated to serve as the event headliner.
A lot of European talent have been announced to feature in Denmark with Gunnar Nelson, the returning Nicolas Dalby who makes the jump from Cage Warriors, the resurgence of Khalil Rountree and former Cage Warriors Bantamweight champ Jack Shore making his debut inside the octagon.
