Who will win the PFA Player of the Year Award?

This Sunday is another big day in the Premier League, where we will see Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal continue their league campaign.

With Liverpool easily defeating bottom of the table Huddersfield 5-0 last night, the league leaders can sit back the rest of this weekend and see how the rest of the fixtures plan out. But for four of their players, it is a huge weekend individually for each of them.

Opposing title contenders Man City have five of their own players up for the prestigious PFA Player of the year award. With rivals Man United’s Paul Pogba earning his own selection.

Selections:

Goalkeeper: Ederson-Man City

Defenders: Andy Robertson-Liverpool, Aymeric Laporte-Man City, Virgil Van Dijk-Liverpool, Trent Alexander Arnold-Liverpool

Midfielders: Paul Pogba-Man United, Fernandinho-Man City, Bernardo Silva-Man City

Strikers: Sadio Mane-Liverpool, Sergio Aguero-Man United, Raheem Srerling-Man City.

There can only be one winner out of the eleven players who made the team of the year. Leading the way are Liverpool’s in-form defender Virgil Van Dijk, electric winger Sadio Mane and Man City duo in striker Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.

Virgil Van Dijk has been outstanding from his January move from Southampton in 2018. The performances he has put in, given the defence a huge boost and raised the game of many around him surely has the Dutchman in pole position. John Terry was the last defender to win the title in the 2004-2005 season. Van Dijk has been a brick wall to get past.

Mane is Liverpool’s top goal scorer this season with 20 goals in 33 appearances and has chipped in with some vital scores for his side. Liverpool missed Mane’s presence when he went to the Africa Cup of Nations last season, and has been vital to their race for the title.

The next player who I believe is in the running for the PFA player of the year, is Man City’s in-form goalscorer Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has scored 19 goals this league season in 30 appearances, and been a reliable presence for his side from he signed in 2011.

If I had to pick a rightful winner, it would probably be Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk. You can check out our latest odds on the football via Toalsbet.com
