What a weekend of racing! The St Leger Meeting at Doncaster reaches a close with the feature race at 3.35. Leopardstown and Listowel boast very strong cards and we have a decent card at Chester too. With many top stars in action, its a feast for Horse racing lovers and hopefully I’ll be able to offer some value.
Starting with Doncaster and the St Leger, and its very hard to ignore the claims of LAH TI DAR who couldn’t have been any more impressive in her lightly raced campaign to date. She looks tailor made for this test and with the fillies allowance will take all the stopping. KEW GARDENS won’t be out of the top three and will run a very strong race. DEE EX BEE looks sure to stay for me and should fill the 3rd place.
OH THIS IS US has been better than ever this summer and has Course and Distance Form and should land this Group 2 in the 2.25. He’s an each way price and has been mega consistent and has a fine strike rate and one to side with.
All eyes will be on TOO DARN HOT in the 3.00 with two eyecatching wins and next years 2000 Guineas favourite is a short price for success against a strong field but he’s worth watching as all the promise is there.
Leopardstown has a feast of races and in the IRISH CHAMPION STAKES 1m2 specialist ROARING LION once again gets conditions and trip to suit and should confirm old form with old rival SAXON WARRIOR who might get closer today.
ALPHA CENTAURI is rock solid in the Matron Stakes but LAURENS is the one to focus on for forecast purposes and Betting without the Favourite Markets.
MASAFF looks overpriced to me in the 4.25 as he won on debut despite doing everything wrong and from a canny yard. PSYCHEDELIC FUNK also looks overpriced in the 6.00 and Ger Lyons runners will always run well.
ROSTROPOVICH should land the 4.55 and BURNT SUGAR has been excellent in handicaps and I’m not convinced the handicapper has his number yet and at a price could run a big race under top weight in the 7.10.
Looking forward to seeing PANTHER SOUL in the opener at 1.45 on debut for Willie Mullins. He’s only had 1 flat start and was a 50/1 winner over 1m4 at Dundalk and looks a very interesting recruit.
Would expect INTERNAL TRANSFER to run a big race in the 3.30 off bottom weight and strong market support has only added to this likelihood.
BLAKENEY POINT despite drifting should run a big race in the Stand Cup Stakes as he has been a model of consistency this season. There’s a big prize in him and the soft ground is a plus.
KNIGHT DESTROYER is interesting back on the Flat in the 5.05 as he was well backed for a number of hurdle runs in top class Juvenile company and was progressive on the Flat before switching disciplines. He’s weak in the market however.
On the ALL WEATHER, DADDYS POPPIT looks the best bet at Chelmsford after winning on stable debut for the mega hot Archie Watson and should progress even more.
At Lingfield, its always hard to ignore the course form of BAMAKO DU CHATELET who runs in the 4.50 and LAYALEENA made quite a taking debut and will be interesting if she can follow up in the 2.30
ALPHA CENTAURI 5.25 LEOPARDSTOWN
ROARING LION 6.35 LEOPARDSTOWN
TOO DARN HOT 3.00 DONCASTER
EACH WAY TREBLE
BAMAKO DU CHATELET 4.50 LINGFIELD
OH THIS IS US 2.25 DONCASTER
PSYCHADELIC FUNK 6.00 LEOPARDSTOWN
LAURENS w/o Alpha Centauri 5.25 LEOPARDSTOWN
